about us

Golden Animal Hospital now operates two locations, both offering full veterinary services, pet boarding, and professional grooming.

Golden Animal Hospital is a full service facility providing the finest professional health care for your pet. We know that preventive care and nutrition are important to maintaining your pet's health.  We offer boarding in our climate control facilities for both dogs and cats as a way to assure you that your pet receives the best of care and attention they need while you are away.

We operate in the best of the present and past. Dr. Mickey Golden's Tallapoosa County roots inspired a practice focused on the kind of personal care common in small towns for generations. But our practice keeps pace with today's leading edge treatments to provide the very best and latest care for your pet.

The clinic was founded by Dr. Golden as Carville Animal Hospital in 1985, two years after his graduation from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to that, he worked in a suburban Atlanta practice as well as a practice here locally. As the new millennium was born, the medical staff grew with addition of Dr. Holladay Simmons in 2001. Her addition provided additional focused attention for our clients.

On September 22 of 2006, our clinic was devastated by an electrical fire. Even while dealing with the tragedy, the staff moved quickly establish a temporary location to continue to serve our clients. Almost immediately upon hearing the news, the Montgomery Humane Society stood ready to provide temporary housing for the clinic. They were anxious to help Golden Animal Hospital and to show support for the clinic's long and dedicated support to the Society and the Montgomery community's pets.

In April of 2007, the rebuilt clinic re-opened its doors at its familiar Atlanta Highway location. The new renovations included a section of large private pet boarding suites, complete with traditional wooden-framed beds and bedding, curtained windows and stainless steel food and water bowls in wrought iron stands.

In the summer of 2007, the practice's growth facilitated the addition of a third member of the medical staff, Dr. Tina Hays. The clinic also started offering regular Saturday hours again.

In April 2008, Golden Animal Hospital expanded its presence by establishing a second location, Golden Animal Hospital East, located in the Shoppes at EastChase.
